It’s hard to lose weight, and everyone knows that.  You really know that it’s hard to lose weight when your job is to help people lose weight and you find yourself 100 pounds overweight.  That’s what happened to Carly Donovan, the creator of the Cinderella Solution weight loss system.
Like most everyone else who has found themselves carrying extra pounds, Carly struggled to lose them, even though she was eating a strict, n0-carb diet and engaging in hour after hour of cardio.  That wasn’t working, so she set out to find something that did, and that led to the creation of the Cinderella Solution system.
Carly says that the Cinderella Solution system has a 2 step solution that will allow you to lose weight without engaging in boring, repetitive cardio and without giving up the carbs that everyone loves to eat.
The program uses something called “food pairing” that makes it easy to put meals together in a way that will help you lose weight, without you having to meticulously count calories or carbs.

Cinderella Solution Overview

The Cinderella Solution is sold as a series of ebooks in PDF format.  PDF books can be downloaded immediately after purchase and can be read on anything from a smartphone to a desktop computer, making them rather convenient to use.
When you purchase the Cinderella Solution, you’ll receive the following books:
  • Cinderella Solution Main Book and Owner’s Manual 93 pages
  • Cinderella Solution Quick Start Guide 52 pages
  • The Cinderella Accelerator – 21 Day Kickstart Guide 27 pages
  • Movement Sequencing Guide 30 pages
  • Cinderella Exercise Database – videos for 60 exercises
What has changed with the Cinderella Solution?
Since my last review, there have been a number of changes to the Cinderella Solution program, mostly for the better:
  • Main Book has been expanded from 76 pages to 93 pages
  • The Quick Start Guide has been greatly expanded from 17 pages to 52 pages!
  • The Cinderella Exercise database has been expanded from 50 videos to 60 videos.
  • A new book is included – The Cinderella Accelerator – 21 Day Kickstart Guide
  • The Nutrition Guide has been removed from the program and replaced with an expanded book called the Food Lover’s Recipe Playbook, which is available as part of a deluxe version of the product that also includes the Food Lover’s Dessert Guide.
  • The Cinderella University book has been removed from the program and no longer seems to be available.
These changes are largely for the better; the books are both longer and better-organized, and while Nutrition Guide book is no longer part of the main program, the Quick Start Guide has been expanded to include all of the recipes that you’ll need to get started.
The Cinderella Solution Program
The program itself involves changing the way you eat, and is based on Carly’s observations about how people in other countries eat.
We’ve often been told that carbs are bad for us.  Yet in Japan, most people get the bulk of their calories from carbs, yet they live longer and are less likely to be obese than Americans.
The secret, according to the book, is a method of food pairing.  There are certain types of foods that you should eat together.  This helps restore proper levels of insulin, cortisol, and estrogen in your body.
Conversely, you’ll want to avoid pairing certain types of foods together.
Fortunately, the book outlines exactly how to do this, and presents the information in a way that makes it easy to do.  You can choose your meals from a pre-selected listing of combinations, or you can choose your own according to guidelines established in the book.
Furthermore, you won’t have to weigh your food or count your calories or carbs, though you can weigh your food if you like.  The alternative way is a very simple method that lets you choose portion sizes using a method that doesn’t require any weighing or calculation.
Want to jump right in?  The Quick Start Guide
The Cinderella Solution offers two different ways to go through the program, depending on whether you’re the sort of person who wants to learn about what you’ll be doing before taking action or whether you’re the sort of person who just wants to jump in and get started.
The main Cinderella Solution book offers two different paths, so depending on which route you want, you can read the books in your choice of two different orders.
Most people will find that the 52 page Quick Start Guide is a good place to start.  Despite its relatively short length, it gives you a brief overview of the Cinderella Solution program and tells you what you’ll be doing and when.  If you’re in a hurry, you can begin with the Quick Start guide, which gives a brief overview of the program and then jumps right into the basics of the program and the meal plans.
If you’re more interested in the details of the program, you’ll want to read the 93 page main Cinderella Solution book, as it goes into more detail about the origins of the program and why you’ll be doing what you’re doing.
The main Cinderella Solution program consists of two parts – eating from the included meal plan and working out according to the included exercise book.
The Cinderella Solution weight loss system is divided into two parts when it comes to diet – the “Ignite” stage and the “Launch” stage.  Each lasts 14 days.
The Ignite phase gives you three meals a day, but has a few restrictions regarding what you can eat.  The purpose of this phase is to “reset” your system and to prepare it for the “Launch” phase.
The Launch phase adds a meal, so you’ll have four meals a day.  You’ll also be permitted to eat certain foods that were restricted during the Ignite phase.
You’ll go through both phases, which will take just about a month.  If your weight is where you want to be at that time, you’re done and you can revisit the program from time to time for maintenance.
If you haven’t yet reached your target weight after the two stages of the Cinderella Solution program, you can repeat the 28 day cycle and in fact, you can repeat it for as long as you need to.
You won’t be starving yourself, though.  The Ignite phase includes a daily meal plan for each of the 3 meals a day you’ll be eating over the 14 days of that portion of the program.  For the Launch phase, you’ll be eating 4 meals per day, and that one also includes a complete meal plan for the 14 days of the program.
These meal plans are included in the Quick Start Guide, and they include such recipes as:\
Ignite Phase:
  • Salmon Avocado Salad
  • Zucchini Noodle Shrimp Scampi
  • Sage & Garlic Roasted Chicken
Launch Phase:
  • Breakfast Stuffed Peppers
  • Chicken Fiesta Salad
The Cinderella Solution divides foods into four basic groups:
  • Prime Proteins
  • Royal Fats
  • Power Carbs
  • Angel Carbs
The meal plans will simply direct you to choose a certain number of portions from each group for a particular meal.  You can use the recommended meal suggestion, or you can design your own based on your personal preferences.
Each of the four groups above includes a long list of items within that group, so anyone should be able to find something within a given group that they like.  This means that the program should be suitable for everyone, including picky eaters.
Bonus!  An interesting bonus in the program is the “Angel Carbs” group listed above.  Consumption of foods within that special group comes with no restrictions!
That’s right – you can eat as much as you like from the foods listed in the Angel Carbs section.  That makes them perfect for when you still feel just a little bit hungry.

Have a glass of wine!
Most weight loss programs emphatically stress that you should not consume alcohol while on the program.  That makes sense; while having an occasional glass of wine is pleasurable, most alcoholic beverages offer little in the way of nutritional value and are relatively high in sugar.  For this reason, most programs urge you to abstain.
In the Cinderella Solution, you may have a glass of wine from time to time, though the program is very specific about when you should have it.  Still, for those people who enjoy wine every now and again, you’ll be pleased to see that the program says it’s OK.
The Cinderella Solution is perfect for those people who want to lose weight but would prefer to be told exactly what to do.  If you’re one of those people who just wants to follow directions and make the recipes as directed and eat them on a schedule that’s provided for you, the Cinderella Solution will be perfect.
Many weight loss programs simply tell you to count calories or carbs and leave it up to you to decide what to eat.  The Cinderella Solution takes all the guesswork out of it – if you just follow the meal plan, the program is easy and should be effective.
Food Pairings
Each of the books in the program (Main Book and Owner’s Guide, Quick Start Guide, and Accelerator Guide) includes a section at the end about food pairings.
These are pairs of food items or ingredients that the author believes can enhance weight loss when these items are paired together.  These sections of the book explain the benefits of each ingredient in the pair and offer suggestions as to how you can use these pairings in your everyday eating habits.
While these pairings are incorporated into the main program itself and included in the recipes, these sections of the books offer additional insights into the ingredients and how pairing them together may help offer improved results.
What About Exercise?  The Movement Sequencing Book and the Cinderella Exercise Database
The Cinderella Solution does include an exercise program, and includes the 30 page Movement Sequencing Guide, along with 60 short exercise videos to show you how to do the exercises.  Fortunately, you won’t need to have access to a gym to do most of the exercises.  The primary equipment you’ll need are a moderately sized pair of dumbbells and some good shoes.   A yoga or exercise mat and a stability ball are optional.
The exercise program requires working out a few times a week for 8-24 minutes.  How often you work out is dependent on how much you exercise already and how much weight you need to lose.  Most of the exercises are quite simple to do.
The Movement Sequencing Guide explains the program, which is designed to give you a routine that works with the female metabolism to “force fat loss from the inside out.”
These workouts involve “cycles,” or engaging in a series of specific exercises, one right after the other.
The book recommends that you either perform these exercise cycles in one of two ways, depending on how aggressive you want to be with your weight loss:
  • For those just starting out – 1 cycle, every other day.
  • For those who want something more aggressive – 1-2 cycles three days in a row, followed by a day off.
Each exercise in the cycle is explained in the Cinderella Exercise Database, and for each exercise, you will either perform a designated number of “reps,” or you will perform the exercise for a specified amount of time.
The exercises are grouped into numbered “workouts.”  So Workout One includes a specific set of exercises.
There are fifteen different workouts, each containing 6-10 exercises each.  The program recommends that you stick to the workout format, and perform the recommended exercises in the order given.
How do you perform the exercises?
For instruction on how to perform the exercises, the Movement Sequencing Guide will direct you to the Cinderella Exercise Database, an online page that will provide you with access to videos that explain how each exercise is to be performed.
The Cinderella Exercise Database has been expanded from the time of my earlier review, and now includes 60 videos, each depicting a different exercise.
The videos are brief; some last only a few seconds.  But they appear to have been professionally shot and they offer a good overview of what you need to do.
You can watch them online in your Web browser on any Internet-connected device.  Alternatively, you can download the videos in mp4 format so that you can watch them any time you like.
On the whole, the Cinderella Solution is a well written, comprehensive program that may help you lose weight, especially if you don’t like rigorous exercise and prefer to follow a prescribed meal plan.
Need fast results?  The Cinderella Accelerator
Of all of the changes to the Cinderella Solution program since my last review, perhaps the most interesting one is the introduction of a new bonus book – The Cinderella Accelerator – 21 Day Kickstart Guide, also known as the “21-Day Rapid Fat-Loss Guide.”
This book is designed for people who need really quick results – like when you need to show up at your high school reunion a few pounds lighter and you don’t have a whole lot of time to do it.
This 27 page book was created using data obtained from some 200 women who had completed the Cinderella Solution program.  The 18 most common meals used by the 50 women in the program who lost weight the fastest are included in the book.
In short, the Accelerator book alters the main program for three weeks only.  For that period of time, you will only be concerned with the “Ignite” phase of the program and the “Launch” phase will not be used.
This book includes 6 options for breakfast, 6 options for lunch, and 6 options for dinner, along with lists of ingredients and recipes.
Is the Cinderella Solution Too Complicated?
It might seem that way, given the set of four different books and meal plans and a pre-planned series of workouts.
It really isn’t that complicated, however, and a quick browse through the Quick Start guide will show you that you can easily get going with this program with very little effort.
You’ll see a list of foods for each food group, and that list includes both a “quick measure” and “exact measurement” to show you portion sizes.
After that, you just follow the meal plan, either exactly, if you just want to get going, or you can adjust it to your own tastes by creating your own meals from the recommended guidelines.

The price is quite reasonable, given that the books are well written and all of the content is unique.  Many products in the weight loss niche include public-domain books that have been kicking around for years that add nothing to the value of the purchase.
That’s not the case here, all of the books are part of a comprehensive whole and all were written by Carly Donovan and her team especially for the Cinderella solution product.
At purchase, there are a couple of optional purchases available, including a personal coaching program, an offer for a popular nutritional supplement, and an offer for an upgraded version of the Cinderella Solution called the Food Lover’s version.
The Food Lover’s version includes a special version of the Main Book and Owner’s Manual that includes extensive recipes for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, taking most of the guesswork and planning out of the program and making it easier to get started.
The Food Lover’s version also includes a bonus book – The Guilt-Free Dessert Guide.  That contains 22 pages with such recipes as:

  • Sticky Strawberry Crumble
  • Raw Peppermint Oreos Dipped in Dark Chocolate
These upsells are optional; the basic program will likely be all you need to succeed in your goal of losing weight.
Thoughts on the Cinderella Solution Update
I’m impressed with the update to the Cinderella Solution program.  There were a few typos in the previous edition of the product, and some of the material got a bit complicated.   Links to some of the exercise videos didn’t work, and the Quick Start Guide didn’t work as a standalone book, as you had to use it in conjunction with the Nutrition Guide.
Carly and her team have cleared up those minor problems in their new edition.
The newest version of the program includes an expanded main book, an expanded and improved Exercise Database, and a greatly expanded, and much easier-to-use Quick Start Guide.
This has been a very successful program and one with a lot of happy customers.
